Lee makes up for poor start

BATTLING Lee James fought his way back up the Italian Open leader board with a birdie blitz in Milan this afternoon.

The Parkstone-based professional was struggling after three dropped shots in his first six holes.

But birdies at the seventh, 11th, 12th, 13th, 17th, and 18th saw him card a two-under-par 70 - just six shots behind joint leaders Ross McGowan and Marco Ruiz.

James's only other dropped shot was at the 387-yard 16th hole.

"I played well, but it could have been better," said James. "Despite changing my putter I still had three three putts."
